FAIMER, a division of Intealth, held its third annual FAIMER Global Forum with a successful two-day virtual conference on October 18-19, 2023. Throughout the two days of the conference, a combined total of 494 attendees participated in the event, with representation from 33 countries and Fellows from the International FAIMER Institute (IFI), and all 10 FAIMER Regional Institutes (FRIs). The FAIMER Global Forum serves as an advocacy and thought leadership platform through convening FAIMER Fellows, alumni, leaders, partners, and friends to discuss relevant topics related to health care education and workforce development. This year’s Global Forum was hosted by the Ain Shams University (ASU), the host institution for the Middle East and North Africa FAIMER Regional Institute (ASU-MENA-FRI), located in Cairo, Egypt, with the theme of “Partnership and Collaboration.”
Dr. Wagdy Talaat, Consultant for the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO) and President of the Egyptian Society of Medical Education, presented the conference keynote, titled “Community as a Major Partner in Health Professions Education: FAIMER Experience.”
Programming also included a presentation from the Dean of ASU, Dr. Ali Al-Anwar; small group and panel discussions; remarks from members of Intealth leadership; and celebrations of collaborations and connections made possible through FAIMER’s global programs. The conference concluded with an official announcement that the Fourth FAIMER Global Forum will be hosted by the Christian Medical College at Ludhiana FAIMER Regional Institute (CMCL-FRI), based in Ludhiana, India, on October 14-15, 2024.
