FAIMER to Launch Regional Competency-based Education Program in India

FAIMER, a division of Intealth™, offers programs in professional development to international health professions educators with the goal of advancing quality in health care education worldwide. FAIMER’s Competency-based Education (FACE) program, piloted in India in 2021, expanded to include health professions educators from all ten FAIMER Regional Institutes (FRIs) with the launch of the I-FACE program in July 2023.

FAIMER, in partnership with the CMCL-FRI in Ludhiana, India, will now offer the FACE core competency-based program curriculum to FRI faculty nominated by the Directors of FAIMER’s Indian FRIs with adaptations made to the local context through its first Regional FACE (R-FACE) program.

Dr. Rashmi Vyas, Senior Associate, FAIMER Global Lead, states, “Offering specialized training in competency-oriented curriculum to health professions educators, tailored to the regional needs in India, will provide support for health professions educators in the region. This approach exemplifies one of FAIMER’s key missions of supporting the education of physicians and other health care professionals worldwide and contributes to Intealth’s shared vision of being the trusted global authority on health care education.”

Dr. Dinesh Badyal, Director of the CMCL-FRI, adds that “the R-FACE program will provide FRI faculty nominated by the Directors of FAIMER’s Indian FRIs with a competency-based education that is of high demand in India. R-FACE will be of great use to our faculty members, their students, and their institutions, especially given the recent focus to integrate more of this type of curriculum into health care professions education in India.”
