8th Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference

The 8th Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC), “Continuum of Medical Education: From Undergraduate Learning to Professional Practice—Trends, Issues, Priorities, and Strategies,” took place January 26-30, 2011, at the National University of Singapore, Singapore. The conference, aimed at sharing and learning from international experiences and best practices, included several pre- and post-conference workshops on medical and health professions education in collaboration with the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) and the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). FAIMER President and CEO John J. Norcini, Ph.D., conducted a pre-conference workshop on workplace-based assessment, gave a lecture entitled “Contemporary and Future Directions in Assessment,” and led a special interest group on faculty development. Dr. Norcini was also awarded the 2011 MILES Award in recognition of his contributions to Mentoring, Innovation and Leadership in Educational Scholarship.
