Marta van Zanten, PhD, Senior Director, FAIMER Research, has been appointed Guest Editor for the BMC Medical Education Collection titled “Accreditation and Program Evaluation Models in Medical Education.” Dr. van Zanten; her co-guest editor, Roghayeh Gandomkar, MD, PhD of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran; and the journal’s editorial board invite submissions to the Collection that study the dynamic nature of medical education and evolution in accreditation and program evaluation processes that ensure the quality, relevance, and efficiency of medical educational programs worldwide.

Dr. van Zanten is a leader in research on accreditation and medical education worldwide. Her research efforts and publications support the mission of FAIMER, a division of Intealth™, by investigating topics such as quality assurance processes of international medical schools, clinical skills assessment, the impact of accreditation on student outcomes, and the role of international medical graduates (IMGs) in the U.S. workforce.
