Approximately 250 participants from more than 40 countries gathered for this year\u2019s meeting, themed \u201cIntegrating Public and Personal Health Care in a World on the Move.\u201d The conference was co-hosted by the Medical University of Graz and the Styrian Academy of Family Practice.<\/p>\n<p>More than 20 FAIMER faculty, staff, and Fellows participated in the meeting, serving as conference organizers, keynote speakers, presenters, facilitators, and discussants. Two Fellows, Sarah Kiguli (PHIL 2004) and Francisco (Pacho) Lamus Lemus (PHIL 2009), are members of The Network: TUFH Executive Committee. Co-Director of the FAIMER Institute Page Morahan participated in a round table plenary session, and FAIMER Associate Director of Evaluation and Planning Stacey Friedman gave a keynote presentation entitled \u201cMeasuring Social Networks: Understanding and Supporting Relationships to Transform Health Care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conference activities included a session for the FAIMER Regional Initiative in Latin America (FRILA). This session, co-facilitated by Ricardo Borda (PHIL 2008) of Colombia and Irene Durante-Montiel (PHIL 2008) of Mexico, invited FRILA members and other interested conference participants to discuss current and future opportunities for advancing the field of health professions education in the Latin American region. It also provided a forum for participants to brainstorm about future collaboration between FRILA and The Network. Another session, co-facilitated by Elsie Kiguli-Malwadde (PHIL 2005) of Uganda, who represented the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), and Ben van Heerden (PHIL 2006) of South Africa, who represented the Southern Africa-FAIMER Regional Institute (SAFRI), provided an opportunity for discussion among those interested in FAIMER initiatives or MEPI projects in Africa.
