Privacy Policy for FAIMER® Website

The Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research ("FAIMER") shares your concerns for maintaining the integrity and privacy of personal information collected on the Internet. FAIMER is committed to protecting your privacy, and the following Privacy Policy ("Policy") is intended to explain our information collection and dissemination practices in connection with the FAIMER website (the "Site"). 1) Collection of Personal Information from Site Users.

While visiting our Site, you may choose to provide personal information to us in the process of completing various on-line forms associated with FAIMER’s programs and services. This information may include, but is not limited to, your name, date of birth, e-mail address, postal address, telephone number, social security or national identification number, citizenship and information related to your employment and medical training. You may also choose to provide personal information to us in the process of filling out an on-line application for employment. This information may include, but is not limited to, your name, e-mail address, postal address, telephone number, employment history, and list of references. By providing your personal information on-line, you consent to allow FAIMER to use that information in accordance with this Policy. In general, applicants are required to respond to all of the questions on our application forms. Candidates for employment are not required to provide information regarding ethnicity.

When a User accesses the Site, FAIMER may place cookies on the User’s web browser. A cookie is a small piece of data that is sent to your computer and allows FAIMER to identify the User. Cookies are used by FAIMER solely to identify the same user from web page to web page and to indicate, in the case of Users with a FAIMER account, that the User has been properly authenticated. All cookies are removed when a User leaves the Site and the browser is closed. With the exception of the FAIMER account login, FAIMER on-line fellowships application, and on-line employment application, all non-service web pages are hosted by Verio. 2) Security.

As part of FAIMER’s pledge to protect your privacy, we employ Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology and password protection to prevent unauthorized access to your personal information in connection with your FAIMER account. In order to access your personal information, you must first confirm your identity by entering your FAIMER User Name and password. This login page, as well as the FAIMER on-line fellowships application and on-line employment application, are secured by SSL technology. Please note that pages other than the login page, IMED, the IMED Subscription Service, FAIMER on-line fellowships application, and on-line employment application are not secured by SSL or other encryption programs. While FAIMER has endeavored to create a secure and reliable site for Users, the confidentiality of any communication transmitted to or from FAIMER via the Site or e-mail cannot be guaranteed. Accordingly, FAIMER is not responsible for the security of information transmitted via the Internet.

Users may choose to make a donation to FAIMER through the Site. Users may also choose to pay tuition and fees for the FAIMER Distance Learning program through the Site. FAIMER uses the third-party vendor PayPal to process on-line donations and purchases of distance learning modules. A third-party application called ApplicantPro Applicant Tracking System is used to process on-line employment applications. Please see the ApplicantPro Applicant Tracking System Privacy Policy at for more information regarding its security and privacy practices.

FAIMER uses the personal information you provide in order to process your applications and requests for services and in order to verify that you meet the minimum qualifications for our programs and services or for employment. Additionally, with your consent, FAIMER may use aggregated personal information for research and statistical purposes. In the FAIMER Fellowship Programs Policy for Data and Privacy section of the FAIMER on-line fellowships application, you will have opportunity to give permission, by selecting the "I consent" option, for FAIMER’s collection and use of non-public personal information as outlined therein. Selecting the "I do not consent" option will not have an effect on the success of your FAIMER fellowship application. FAIMER does not use your personal information for marketing or promotional purposes. In connection with on-line employment applications, except where you tell us not to, we will keep the information that you submit for future consideration.

4) Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties.

FAIMER pledges not to sell, rent, offer, or otherwise disclose any personal information, such as names, e-mail addresses, postal addresses, telephone numbers, and other personal information that Users voluntarily provide to FAIMER, to any organization or individual without a legitimate interest (collectively "Third Parties"), except to the extent necessary to comply with applicable laws or valid legal processes, or to protect the rights or property of FAIMER.

As noted above, FAIMER uses the third-party vendor PayPal to process on-line donations and purchases of distance learning modules. You may review PayPal’s Privacy Policy by clicking here. If you purchase distance learning modules, FAIMER will send information about you and your purchase via e-mail to The Open University for the purpose of registration. This information will include your name; contact information, including e-mail address; the module(s) purchased; and the indentification and receipt numbers for this transaction.

5) Access and Ability to Correct Personal Data.

Using FAIMER’s on-line fellowships application, properly identified applicants may access and verify or change such personal information as name of record, postal address, e-mail address, fax number, and view the status of their application. In order to access and verify or change or view information, you must have both your FAIMER User Name and password. This Site may contain links to other Internet websites. However, FAIMER does not endorse, and is not responsible for, the privacy practices or the content of these web sites.

7) Law Enforcement.

FAIMER reserves the right to view, monitor, and record activity on the Site without notice or permission from you. Any information obtained by monitoring, reviewing, or recording is subject to review by law enforcement organizations in connection with investigation or prosecution of possible criminal activity on the Site. FAIMER will also comply with all court orders involving requests for such information.

8) Inquiries and Concerns.

The foregoing Policy is effective as of June 1, 2016. FAIMER reserves the right to change this Policy at any time by notifying Users of the existence and location of the new or revised Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the Site after notice of a change shall constitute your acceptance of any such changes to this Policy.
