Muhammad Tariq, M.B.B.S.

Muhammad Tariq, M.B.B.S.Dr. Muhammad Tariq is employed by the Aga Khan University (AKU), Karachi, Pakistan, where he has served as Interim Associate Dean Education and Interim Chair Department for Educational Development since December 2015. He is an Associate Professor and Section Head of Internal Medicine and a practicing Internist. Dr. Tariq served as Director of Postgraduate Programs in the AKU Department of Medicine from 2008-2015, and as Program Director of Internal Medicine from 2001-2011. He graduated from Dow Medical College (now Dow University of Health Sciences) in 1992 and completed his residency in internal medicine at Aga Khan University in 1998. He was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the UK in 2001, and was advanced to a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) of Edinburgh and London in 2011 and 2013, respectively. Dr. Tariq became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in 2009. He was selected as a FAIMER Institute Fellow in 2009 and completed his two-year fellowship in 2011. In 2012, he was awarded an International Fellowship in Medical Education (IFME) by FAIMER, to pursue a Master’s degree in Health Professions Education (MHPE) at Maastricht University, Netherlands. Dr. Tariq became Supervisor for the Fellowship of the College of Physicians & Surgeons (FCPS) at the College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan in 2005 and became Examiner for FCPS Internal Medicine in 2012. He is a bird lover, and particularly enjoys pigeons and parrots.
