Janet Grant, Ph.D.
Janet is Director of The Centre for Medical Education in Context (CenMEDIC) and Emeritus Professor of Education in Medicine at The Open University in the United Kingdom. Her professional interests include regulation, educational development, continuing professional development, and curriculum.
Janet was lecturer in medical education at King’s College Hospital Medical School. She then became assistant director of a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Medical Education. She is a special adviser to the World Federation for Medical Education and to WHO on implementing global standards for medical education. In addition to serving as a faculty member for the FAIMER Institute, Janet has served as a faculty member for the Brasil-, CMCL-, GSMC-, PSG-, and Southern Africa-FAIMER Regional Institutes.
Janet was a foundation member of the United Kingdom’s Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board, the regulatory body for postgraduate medical education. She was also Chair of its Curriculum Sub-Committee, which set standards for and approved curricula for all postgraduate training programs. Janet is an honorary fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Physicians as well as an honorary member of the Royal College of Radiologists. She is a member of the Education and Training Committee of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Joint Academic Standards Board of the Bar Council.
