Valdes Roberto Bollela M.D., Ph.D.
Professor Valdes Bollela graduated from the School of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP) in Brazil in 1992. He is an Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases Specialist (1993-1995) and finished his Ph.D. in 2000, when he started working with Medical Education. Prof. Bollela is a 2006 FAIMER Institute Fellow. In 2007, he participated as one of the core faculty members in the foundation of the Brazil-FAIMER Regional Institute on Health Professions Education, and since 2008 he has been serving as Global Faculty at the FAIMER Institute in Philadelphia.
Prof. Bollela has taught at FMRP-USP since 2011. He has published two books: Competence-Based Curriculum for the clerkship: bridging the gaps (2010) and Community-Based Education for Health Professions: learning with the Brazilian experience (2014). Over the past 10 years, he has been a resource for faculty development in curriculum design and student assessment for Latin America.
