Duration of studies
The duration of studies is between three and six years, depending on the specialty:
- General Practice, Public Health, or Sports Medicine: 3 years
- Clinical Specialties: 4-6 years
Trainee selection process
Access is by national examination (“Internato Complementar”). Requirements depend on the specialty and change frequently.
Specialty curriculum authority
The final exam is administered by the Ministry of Health with the help of Ordem dos Médicos.
