Gerald P. Whelan, M.D.

Gerald P. Whelan, M.D.Gerald P. Whelan, M.D., is the Director of the Acculturation Program at the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). He launched that new initiative for ECFMG after serving as the Vice President for Assessment Services and Co-executive Director of the Clinical Skills Evaluation Collaboration (CSEC) for the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS) Examination and, prior to that, as the Vice President for Clinical Skills for the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA). Prior to joining ECFMG, Dr. Whelan was Associate Director and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. His experience in international medical education includes helping to establish emergency medicine training programs in Egypt and Chile.
