I received primary education at native place and then joined Sainik School, Satara, a reputed boarding school to complete high school and secondary school education (1972-1884). After completing M.B.B.S. in 1984 and M.S. (General Surgery) in 1988 from India Gandhi Medical College, Nagpur, I trained in Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai (1989-1990). I joined Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College (BVDUMC) in 1990 and have been with the organization since then, initially as Lecturer and Associate Professor and now as Professor of Surgery. I assumed charge as Vice-Principal of the Medical College in 2001.
The BVDUMC, in a short span of 14 years, has become one of the preferred centres of learning for medical students. I played an important role in the evolution of the college to its present status of eminence. With teaching experience of 16 years, academic responsibilities include academic administration, strategic planning, curricular aspects, evaluation systems development, co-ordination of departmental teaching, and participation in matters of academic governance.
I serve as Head of a Surgical Unit, nominated by National Board of Examinations as expert for evaluation of hospitals for postgraduate training. I am an examiner for 10 Universities country wide. I serve in several committees at college and university level. I am involved in key developmental programmes.
My personal interests include spending time with the family and reading, especially biographies! Personal strengths are good leadership skills and a compassionate and understanding nature.
