Charles D. Puglia, Ph.D.
Dr. Puglia has spent his career helping students to learn. The quality of his efforts has been acknowledged by students who have voted him 12 Golden Apple Awards for exemplary teaching as well as by fellow faculty members who honored him with the Lindback Award for excellent teaching. Dr. Puglia received the Trustees Award for Teaching Excellence in the Preclinical Years. He is involved in research in educational methods and methods of qualitative evaluation and feedback.
Dr. Puglia led the faculty group that developed and implemented the Program for Integrated Learning (PIL), the problem-based alternative curriculum track at the MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine. He is the former Director of PIL and serves as a small-group facilitator and resource faculty member in pharmacology for the PIL students. Dr. Puglia has conducted Facilitator Training Workshops at Drexel University College of Medicine. He has also been invited to present similar workshops for the American Association of Higher Education and the Association of American Medical Colleges. He presented a workshop on Evaluation and Feedback as Essential Components of a Learning Environment at the Annual Meeting of the Association for Medical Education in Europe in 2001.
Dr. Puglia is currently Emeritus Professor of Pharmacology and he continues to be actively involved in helping students learn at Drexel University College of Medicine.
