Vanessa C. Burch, M.B.Ch.B., M.Med.
Vanessa Burch is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. After completing her clinical training (specialist rheumatologist) she became involved in health professions education. This interest led to her participation in the FAIMER Institute in 2001 and subsequently being appointed as international faculty to FAIMER in 2006. She recently completed a Ph.D. at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Her supervisor was Professor Henk Schmidt, a world renowned medical education expert. The topic of her research was the development and implementation of assessment practices in a resource-constrained setting (i.e. South Africa).
